What Is Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening is an effective way of lightening the shade of your natural teeth.  It involves no preparation of the tooth surface.

You May Wish To Have Your Teeth Whitened Due to Discolouration Caused By:

• Teeth becoming darker with age and this is often increased by drinking tea, coffee, red wine or other food and drink with strong colourings.
• Another major cause is smoking.
• Decay, fillings and tartar build-up can also contribute to discolouration.
• If the teeth are damaged through decay or a knock, this can also make the tooth become darker.
• Some types of staining can be caused by diseases or medicines.

Who Will Be Carrying Out The Procedure?

Whitening should only be carried out by a dental professional.  It is illegal for anyone who is not registered by the GDC to carry out tooth whitening.  At Mayhew Dental we are fully qualified to carry out the whitening procedure for you.
