Jayaa Joshi

I am originally from Manchester, I graduated from University of Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) degree in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.

I am an enthusiastic individual, with a gentle, calm and thorough approach. As a Dental Therapist my role is to continue to provide high quality restorative treatments and various other hygiene services. As we all know, oral health is paramount and I will provide all the support and care required to ensure your gums and teeth are healthy and stable. I am a strong believer in prevention which is the key to avoiding any dental problems in the future!

I am eager to develop myself professionally and I will always continue to update my knowledge and acquire new skills through courses. I am currently undertaking a Post-Graduate course in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry.

One of my favourite areas of dentistry is interacting with children! My enthusiastic nature and past experience as a ‘Community Dental Therapist’ in the South East London I routinely worked closely with parents and children who were referred by general dental practitioners due to special patient needs including; extreme anxiety and fear, age, complicated medical or social history, those where treatment could not be carried out in normal dental settings. This has enabled me to develop my communication and management skills to provide pain-free treatments, especially with nervous children.

I like to make my appointments fun, enjoyable and educational! I believe children require significant attention and time during dental treatment therefore I use various behavioural management techniques such as ‘tell-show-do’ and ‘stop sign’ to successfully perform treatments.

Aside from this, I have incredible experience of providing age-appropriate ‘Oral Health Education’ to local pre-schools, nurseries and primary schools with the use of different resources and consolidation techniques in order to provide advice regarding children’s dental health.

I look forward to providing care for all our younger patients at Mayhew Dental.

I have a passion to participate in charitable events, for example in 2017 I travelled to Nepal, to give back and provide dental treatment to the local residents.

Outside of work, I love travelling and socialising with my family and friends. I am an active individual therefore I love to keep fit, practice yoga, play badminton and I have huge passion for Bollywood dancing.tistry.
